The effect of aging on male fertility is not clear, however, evidence is growing that it may be a factor. Fertilization rates are usually over 60% for men under 39 but for those over that age, the rates fell to slightly over half.
Age, naturally is an important factor. The sperm count are observed to be declining with age according to the reserches done on the male partners of couples who sought tratment for sub fertility.

Obesity, smoking, alcohol, drugs, stress, poor nutrition and lack of exercise all can contribute to poor sperm quality. Even wearing tight under garments for long hours can cause in increase in the temperature of the testicles and impair sperm production. It is hypothesised that junk food may possibly contain animal oestrogens that reduce sperm count, although this theory is still in the research stage. Environmental pollution is suspected by some researchers to impact sperm counts.
